The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center has enjoyed a national reputation as one of the premiere programs in the country. In large measure this is reflective of your extraordinary support. Members of our faculty lead organizations such as The Society of Gynecologic Surgeons, The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The American Society for Reproductive Medicine and The Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Faculty, fellows and residents produce award-winning research that has been used to modify our clinical practices. In conjunction with the Mississippi Section, ACOG, the UMC OB/GYN Alumni Association, and the Winfred L. Wiser Society, we sponsor continuing education programs to serve your needs as you provide the highest level of clinical care to your patients.
Maintaining the department requires a tremendous commitment. The State of Mississippi and the School of Medicine have provided financial resources, even during a time of budgetary shortfalls. However, to maintain the highest standards that we demand (and that you have come to expect), additional resources are needed. Your contribution will help maintain patient care, education, and research at the highest level possible.
Your financial support can be directed in several ways: Pledge Form
Endowment Trust for Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Endowment is unique among departments at the Medical Center. Through your generosity the Endowment has met its initial financial goal and is funding a number of promising pilot research projects, which have provided the basis for solid proposals for grants from outside funding agencies. The principal of the Endowment is held in perpetuity, and only the interest is expended.
The Winfred L. Wiser Chair of Gynecologic Surgery. The Wiser Chair (one of only eight endowed positions at the Medical Center) is striving towards a goal of one million dollars. Like the Endowment, the corpus remains intact and only the interest can be used to support research, education and other projects in Gynecologic Surgery. No funds will be used to support the person who holds the Chair itself.
Ob-Gyn Resident and Fellow Education Fund. The Education Fund may only be used for special resident and fellow projects, travel to medical conferences, and other educational needs.
