Urogynecology

The Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (Urogynecology) provides tertiary care for medical and surgical disorders the female pelvis.  Assessment services include complex multi-channel urodynamics, urethroscopy, endoanal sonography, anal manometry, electro-myelography of the anal sphincter and terminal motor latency testing of the pudendal nerve and rehabilitative services.  The pelvic floor assessment laboratory is located in the diagnostic unit of the Winfred L. Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants.  Surgical services include correction of anal incontinence, bladder incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Motility disorders of the gastrointestinal tract such as gastroparesis, colonic inertia and constipation are referred to GI medicine specialists with expertise in motility.   A colorectal surgeon with experience in female pelvic floor disorders, a urologist with training in female urology and a medical gastroenterologist significantly broadened the services available to women with pelvic floor disorders.
